Grading Exam Requirements
Please ensure you have a copy of an up-to-date Bushi Goya-Ra-Ru Association syllabus and are familar with the stated technical requirements
Candidates failing to adhere to the following rules will not be allowed to partake in the grading exam:
Entry requirements:
- Late-arrivers will not be allowed to partake in the grading.
- Nails (fingers and toes) must be clean and short.
- A good standard of personal hygiene is expected.
- Jewellery (including watches) must not be worn.
- The Goyararu-Suit must be worn, fit correctly, be clean, ironed and in good state of repair.
- With the exception of the current white-belt/beginner grades, the appropriate belt must be worn.
- Males partaking in freestyle bouts must wear a groin guard.
- Any disabilities or special considerations must be documented in writing to the club secretary before the ‘cut off’* date.
- All candidates must have handed in an up-to-date Goyararu licence prior to the grading exam.
- All candidates must have handed in the grading fee prior to the grading exam.
- Candidates satisfying the above 2 criteria after the 'cut-off' date may still be allowed to partake in the grading. However, a belt and/or certificate may not be available should the candidate be successful.
*the 'cut off' date is usually 3-4 weeks before the grading date and allows time for the organisers to produce custom certificates and obtain belts.
During the grading
- Cuts in the skin must be brought to the attention of an examiner immediately. Cuts must be covered with a plaster from the first aid kit. Any blood on the floor or equipment must be wiped clean.
- No smoking.
- No food shall be consumed in the exam hall.
- All drinks must be kept at the very edge of the area. Any spillages must be brought to the attention of an examiner immediately.
- If any hazardous object is noticed (e.g. pieces of glass on the floor), please bring this to the attention of an examiner immediately.
- Any candidate suffering from an infections foot disease must cover their feet (e.g. verruca sock) or wear appropriate training shoes.
- Candidates must inform an examiner if they are feeling unwell or have to cease the grading exam for any reason.
- All mobile phones, alarm watches and pagers should be turned to 'silent' or turned off.
Spectators:
- No spectators are allowed in the main area. However, viewing windows are usually available.
